MINNEAPOLIS — An archived Northrop listing placed the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Somali Student Association’s Somali Night 2026: Echoes From the Past on April 3. Also identified by the Somali title “Dhawaaqii Wagii Hore,” the program marked the association’s 28-year campus milestone.

Northrop described the evening as the final event of the group’s annual Somali Culture Week and as a showcase intended to bring together students, families and the wider Twin Cities community. The listing said the program would include live music, traditional dance, poetry, acting and fashion—forms presented as stories of identity, resilience and creativity.

The advertised lineup named Nuur Caraale and Ismail Dannan, alongside the SSA Somali Dance Team and other appearances. Published guidance set building access for 4:30 p.m., theater doors for 5 p.m. and the program for 5:30 p.m.; general-admission tickets were required. The event was restricted to adults 18 and older, with government ID and no bags specified in the venue guidance.

Somali Night has appeared on Northrop’s calendar in prior years: the 2025 archive describes its predecessor as the closing show of Somali Culture Week in the association’s 27th year. The University’s GopherLink directory currently lists the SSA as a registered student organization in cultural categories, reinforcing the event’s campus connection.
